When you apply such expanded tape to the brass, it will measure the lenght of the bar incorrectly, and the error will be -ΔLs = -0.059 cm Finally measurement of expanded rod by expanded tape will be Answer: L(41) = L +ΔLb - ΔLs = L(1 + (Sb-Ss)ΔT) = 102.975 cm The road APPEARS shorter, because steel measuring tape expanded MORE.
